Those Who Want to be Part of My Journey

This past week I've been thinking a lot about competition, namely, why so many creatives see running a business like a win/lose scenario. It's easy to get caught up looking to others and comparing your successes/failures as if there was only a limited amount of opportunities for growth.

It's tempting to get down about not booking a client, but I try to think of it as another opportunity to find the right fit for my business. I believe that if I don't book a certain bride, it means one of two things: 1. I wasn't going to make her happy; or 2. She wasn't going to make me happy. In either of these scenarios, I lose. I try to remember this when I get bummed out…and it helps.

Is it naive to think that the perfect brides are out there just waiting to find me? Maybe. But this type of thinking makes me hungry to do more, be more, and hustle more. If I don't book a client, it's time to fall more in love with my craft and produce work that I believe in. By doing so, I will attract clients who see my vision and want to be a part of my creative journey.

I hope the same for us all.
